How GelControl Inserts Enhance Reproducibility in 3D Cell Culture Workflows

Shape & Positioning

GEL-ONLY
WITH GEL-CONTROL
Unsupported gel-only cultures can vary in shape and position within the well. GelControl™ creates more consistent, centered hydrogel constructs for improved workflow reproducibility.

Shape & Positioning

Shape and position of a thick hydrogel within a well can dramatically influence nutrient diffusion and necrotic core formation through culture duration.

GelControl inserts provide a mold to simplify pipetting workflow and create highly repeatable hydrogel shapes consistently positioned in the center of wells.

Handling & Transfer

GEL-ONLY
WITH GEL-CONTROL
Gel-only cultures are prone to deformation and sample loss during handling and transfer. GelControl™ provides stable support for more reliable manipulation throughout the workflow.

Handling & Transfer

Conventional 3D hydrogel constructs routinely undergo pipetting-induced deformations during media change, cell-mediated contractions, floating, and mechanical insults with spatula or pipette during transfer.

GelControl™ inserts mechanically support soft constructs with a fine microfiber grid and a large handle to simplify and streamline handling and transfer while removing invasive mechanical interventions.

Imaging Accessibility

GEL-ONLY
WITH GEL-CONTROL
Gel-only cultures can be difficult to image because variable thickness and movement reduce optical accessibility. GelControl™ creates thinner, more consistent constructs for improved imaging access.

Imaging Accessibility

Thick hydrogel constructs are challenging to image because of variable thickness and unbounded mounting that leads to movement during imaging.

GelControl inserts are designed to for imaging from below. A fine and highly porous microgrid keeps soft hydrogels anchored to the bottom with consistent thickness that facilitates imaging accessibility.

Our Unique Approach

Designed to Improve Reproducibility in Soft-Gel 3D Culture Workflows.

A microarchitectured insert that adds mechanical support to soft-gels. Wings and center ring keep hydrogel dome shapes consistent and centered, while the handle allows for easier handling and transfer without disrupting cells or causing sample loss.
